KASARUNG
Once upon a time, there was a kingdom led by a
wise king named Prabu Tapak Agung. He had two beautiful daughters named
Purbararang and Purbasari. When he was close to his death, the king chose his
youngest daughter, Purbasari as his successor.
But Purbararang which is the elder sister didn’t
agree with the king’s decision. She was upset and angry.
Then, Purbararang got angrier and indented to harm
her sister. Then she asked an evil witch to course Purbasari.
“Ooo witch, I want you to curse my sister,
Purbasari”, said Purbararang.
“All right, I’ll do your request..
Hihihihihihi..:, replied the witch.
Then she turned Purbasari’s skin which was smooth
and soft became mottled-black spots. She said “Boom bala boom..!, I send this magic
spell for princess Purbasari, in the short time, your skin become mottled-black
spots.. Hihihihihi..”.
Not long afterwards, Purbasari’s skin became
mottled-black spots. She said, “Oh, my god!, why is my skin become
mottled-black spots?, my face? Oh noo..!”.
Purbasari was very sad. And after Purbasari
becoming ugly, Purbararang Expelled Her from the kingdom. She said, “ You can
not be here! You still have to go from here! Patih..!, take her into the
woods!”.
The Patih brought Purbasari Into the woods. After
that in the woods, Purbasari was accompanied by animals that were always kind
to her. Among the animals, there was a mysterious black hairy ape named Lutung
Kasarung.
“Uuaak... Uuaak..., princess, you don’t be sad, I
will always accompany you here”, said the ape. Purbasari didn’t know that the
ape was apowerfull man who had been cursed to be an ape.
At full moon night, Lutung Kasarung begged
something to the God to remove the curse from princess Purbasari. Not long
afterwards, there appeared a small lake. The water was very clear and fragrant.
The next day, Lutung Kasarung met Purbasari and
asked her to bathe in the lake.
“Uuaakkk uuaaakkk, princess you have to go into the small lake!..”, said
Kasarung.
“Why do I to go there?”, asked Purbasari.
“Uuaakkk... uuaaakkk...., it would eliminate the curse that is in you..!”,
replied Kasarung.
When Purbasari was
bathing, something magical happened. Purbasari’s skin became clean as before
and she became beautiful again. Purbasari was very shocked and was excited when
she looked herself in the lake. She said, “Oh my God.., my mottled-black spots
are vanish.. thank you God, you save from
my suffer”.
The news about
Purbasari finally arrived to the palace. Then Patih also asked Purbasari to
return to the palace.
“
I will go back to the palace, if this Ape comes with me”, replied Purbasari.
Finally her request
was accepted and they went to the palace.
Knowing Purbasari had
returned to the palace, Purbararang became angry. Then she challenged Purbasari
for hair long contest.
Finally, it turned
Purbasari had the longest hair.
Purbararang was upset
an she challenged Purbasari on more time.
“Well..! I lost, but a
queen should have a handsomefiance. While, you don’t have it, right..!”,
insulted Purbararang.
“ It is my fiance!”,
replied Purbasari.
Everyone in the palace
were laughing, including Purbararang.
“ What?, are you
kidding me?, how can a queen hasfiance like an ape hahahahha..”, sneered
Purbararang.
Then Lutung Kasarung
turned into a handsome man. He was more handsome than Indrajaya. Everyone in
the palace, including Purbasari was very shocked. She didn’t believe that the
ape that had accompanied her during this time was a man.
“ I was a man who had
been condemned to be an ape. But I’ve become human again, thanks to princess
Purbasari”, said Lutung Kasarung.
Purbararang finally admitted her defeat and
guillty. She appologized to her sister and begged not to be punished. Purbasari
kindly forgave her. After the incident, Purbasari became a queen, accompanied
by a man that is Lutung Kasarung.
